Inspiration Board: Easter!

Happy Easter Everyone!
Easter is such a special time as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Hope all of you have a wonderful Easter with your friends and family. Here is an inspiration board for Easter that is simple and  budget friendly. I normally don't like to use too many pastel colors because I love creating looks with a pop of color but this combination of colors work well together. Love the pots of daffodils with the bowls of eggs as a centerpiece!

Engagement Session: Vicky + Preston

It's been so long since we have posted last. We have definitely been busy and we're so thankful for all of the referrals we have received. Thank you all!!
We wanted to share some pictures from our beautiful couple Vicky and Preston or their engagement shoot by Closer to Love. Their pictures came out amazing and I love how they used the fog to create an overlay effect. It fits in perfect with their vintage theme! Vicky and Preston wanted to incorporate the song title "better together"throughout their entire wedding. They have such a cute story and the song fits them well. We encouraged them to name a special alcoholic drink using the song title. Can't wait to see what they come up with. We're excited for their wedding at the Franciscan Gardens in San Juan Capistrano!

Inspiration Board: Purple and Black Halloween

Who said Halloween has to be orange and black?
When you think about Halloween, the first colors that come in to mind are probably orange and black but you can pair almost any color with black to create a unique and modern halloween theme. Here is an inspiration board with purple, black and white. Halloween doesn't have to be for just kids, spice it up with some delicious cocktails, yummy desserts, and a little creativity. Love the black spray painted pumpkins and black wreaths!
Have fun!

The Glamorous Life of a Wedding Planner!

The day in the life of a wedding planner is not as glamorous as most people would think. There are so many details that go into weddings or any events which means you have to be prepared for anything. It's definitely a labor of love and that's why we love being event planners. This specific day we planned on shopping for everything we needed for a dessert table that we were creating for a wedding in Temecula, California. Unfortunately, we came across a few obstacles on our shopping trip.

The Los Angeles Flower Market is the best place for bulk flowers at a wholesale price. The market only opens in the morning and closes at noon each day so you have a short amount of time to walk through both sides of the market. But completely worth the trip because you walk into the market and you feel like you are in flower paradise.

Pretty white China Mums..

So, after coming out of the flower market thinking that I got such a great deal, guess what I see on my car? A parking ticket because my meter ran out. Just my luck!

Wow, and the ticket was $60!

Then when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I stop by a store where I planned on buying ribbon and it ends up being closed.

Luckily, I was able to find another store with a ton of different ribbon. Tip: One thing I realized about ribbon is that you can never buy enough. I always seems to run out so it's a good idea to buy more than you need.

I did however go back and forth on a couple different ribbon choices because I wanted grosgrain (textured) ribbon rather than shiny satin ribbon. These subtle differences including the width of the ribbon make an impact in my eyes because it gives an overall specific look. Although most people may think it's a detail that no one will notice, I believe each detail truly ties the all around look and theme together.

Then I had to buy grey fabric and it was difficult because there were so many different shades of grey. Some are more blue grey, purple grey, slate grey, etc. Who knew there were so many different shades? So I ended up going back and forth from two different stores comparing colors and prices. After finally deciding on the perfect shade of grey even though the price was slightly higher than the other store, it ended up being that I bought the same shade as the other store with the lower price. Funny, I wonder how much time I spent walking back and forth from each store?

After a long day, it was finally time to head home. Overall, it was a good shopping trip to LA but I'm definitely not surprised with the events of the day because anything can go wrong when it comes to planning weddings or events. Stay tuned for our next blog to see all of the pictures and how the event came together..

Memorable Birthday Event!

Last year I posted an entry about my husband's birthday dinner event and so I decided to make this a yearly tradition. This year I decided to make it more of a casual event since I did a formal dinner last year. I decided to go with a simple color theme blue, gray, and white. Any event can be made special by adding some small details without too much fuss. I created labels for each food item and customized water bottle labels to match the straws. When setting up a food table, think about the overall layout so that you can create some height using cake stands or taller vases for decor. This makes the table more appealing and interesting to the eye.
The beautiful golf cake was done by Sunny Lee at Filigree Cakes. She is an amazing cake decorator that can take any idea you have and create a masterpiece. Of course I wanted to get a gift that would have just as much of a wow factor as the cake so I got him a golf bag which exactly matched the cake. He was thoroughly surprised by the matching cake and present. Mission accomplished!

Hope you enjoy all of the pictures!

Inspiration Board: Purple Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Everyone!
I wish I could spend Mother's Day with my mom, however she lives in Seattle, Washington and I currently live in Southern California. I would love to create a quaint Mother's Day party to celebrate with all of the important women in my life. The first color that comes to mind is shades of purple which are my mom's favorite colors. Here is an inspiration board of all things lovely in purple and lavender. I especially love the idea of using bundles of lavender as an escort card or place card for each guest. Any of these ideas can be used to create your perfect wedding or an intimate Mother's Day tea party.
Hope all of you have a wonderful Mother's Day!
